Re:Build Manufacturing is revitalizing America's manufacturing base by operating an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform for aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy, and robotics sectors. This Application Engineer role serves as a technical bridge between customers and Re:Build's engineering team, providing customer-facing technical support and integration services for the company's drone platforms. Key responsibilities include assisting customers with integrating custom payloads, sensors, and companion computers (Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Orin, Qualcomm SnapDragon) into drone platforms; supporting architectural designs and system configuration for mission-specific requirements; managing software and firmware builds for customer deployments; and providing technical support for PixHawk-compliant payloads and autopilot systems (PX4, Ardupilot, Betaflight). The role involves conducting benchtop, integration, and flight testing to validate customer configurations; creating and maintaining integration documentation, user guides, and video tutorials; troubleshooting technical issues; and collaborating with the engineering team to capture customer feedback for product improvements. Additional duties include supporting GitHub repositories and API documentation, traveling to customer sites and Re:Build offices for integration support and training, and other assigned responsibilities. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field (or equivalent education/experience). Preferred experience includes 2-5 years with autonomous systems, drones, robotics, or related applications; familiarity with open-source flight control systems; hands-on experience with electronics integration, embedded systems, or hardware prototyping; and knowledge of defense or commercial drone applications. This is a hybrid role based in Framingham, MA, with travel required.
