DeWarmte builds smart, affordable heat pumps that help homes transition away from gas. The company designs hardware, software, and services in-house, meaning software quality directly impacts product performance in customers' homes.
You will develop and improve two Flutter apps: a customer-facing app for homeowners to control their heat pumps, and an employee app for installers and service engineers to install and maintain systems in the field. Most of your time will be spent writing production code—improving quality, reliability, and shipping features to iOS and Android. Your work has direct impact on home comfort and field team efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building features for both the customer and employee apps, ensuring they stand out in usability, functionality and innovation
- Working directly in production Dart/Flutter codebases for iOS and Android
- Designing, building, testing and releasing features from sketch through App Store and Google Play
- Evolving app architecture, state management and shared components across both apps
- Collaborating with backend developers on clean, well-documented APIs
- Improving automated testing, CI/CD, crash reporting, analytics and release practices
- Diagnosing and fixing issues spanning apps, backend and field devices
- Using AI tools to support design, coding, testing, reviews and documentation
- Turning implicit knowledge into clear documentation and repeatable engineering practices
- Participating in code reviews and technical decision-making
- Working cross-functionally with product, backend, hardware, controls, installation and service teams
Success in the first few months means understanding both apps and their connections to backend and hardware, independently building and releasing changes, and making technical debt and quality issues visible and prioritized. As the role develops, new features ship predictably with good test coverage, crash rates decline and app store ratings improve, installations and service visits become faster with fewer errors, and the team uses AI tools confidently and responsibly.
Requirements:
- Solid hands-on experience building and shipping production mobile apps with Flutter and Dart
- Experience releasing and maintaining apps on both App Store and Google Play
- Solid grasp of app architecture and state management (e.g., Riverpod, Bloc, Provider)
- Experience integrating REST APIs, authentication and push notifications
- Track record of taking functionality from design through implementation, testing and release to real-world use
- Strong engineering fundamentals: version control, automated testing, CI/CD, crash reporting and performance monitoring
- Practical experience using AI coding tools and understanding both their value and limits
- Feel for user experience and ability to make complex information simple
- Ability to bring clarity to environments where systems and processes are still taking shape
Useful but not essential: native iOS or Android development, offline-first apps, connected devices (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi provisioning), IoT, energy or HVAC experience.
