Tripadvisor is seeking a Software Engineer II - Android to join its fast-growing Experiences Engineering team, distributed across Europe. The team is responsible for the platform, mobile apps, and supporting infrastructure that power Tripadvisor's travel and experiences marketplace.
In this role, you will focus primarily on Android app development using Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, and GraphQL within a modular, clean-architecture MVVM layout. You'll have opportunities to work across the full stack, including backend microservices, and will be involved in every stage of the software development lifecycle—from design and coding through testing, deployment, and iteration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing high-quality code and building features end-to-end
- Collaborating closely with Product and Design teams to define specifications and deliver quality solutions
- Taking ownership of all aspects of software engineering, from architecture to maintenance
- Working with engineering groups distributed globally
- Contributing to systems that help operators build their businesses and enable third-party inventory integration
You should have 2–8 years of commercial software development experience, with demonstrated expertise in Android app development and familiarity with mobile web and backend technologies. Experience with reactive programming on native mobile platforms is important. You'll need strong problem-solving skills, the ability to learn new technologies quickly, and excellent communication abilities.
