As an Android Engineer III on the Hunt team, you will design and build engaging Android experiences for hunters, taking ownership of meaningful features that drive customer value. You'll contribute to architectural decisions, write comprehensive unit, integration, and acceptance tests to ensure reliability and performance, and provide code reviews to maintain team velocity. You'll partner closely with product managers and cross-functional engineers to integrate services cleanly and design A/B experiments to validate hypotheses with data.
Key responsibilities include building scalable Android applications using Kotlin/Java, embedding AI as a co-pilot in workflows through thoughtful experimentation, and continuously refining solutions based on validation and metrics. You'll work in an environment where priorities evolve, learning is celebrated, and you're encouraged to stretch your skills.
You bring a minimum of four years of professional software development experience, with at least two years focused on Android development. You write maintainable, well-tested code, evaluate technologies based on merit and performance, and demonstrate strong ownership and mentorship instincts. You're hypothesis-driven, metrics-oriented, and comfortable forming hypotheses and letting data guide iteration. Experience with CI/CD, experimentation tooling (Split/Eppo), asynchronous programming (Flows/Coroutines), and modern Android libraries (Jetpack Compose) are bonuses.
onX is a distributed company with 400+ employees across the country, operating with clear goals and frameworks. The role requires occasional travel to corporate offices or strategic locations. Permanent US work authorization is required.
