Salary: USD 190,000 - 230,000 / annual
Lightmatter is a venture-backed photonics company ($4.4B valuation, $400M Series D) pioneering 3D-stacked photonics engines for AI data center infrastructure. The company is hiring Analog IC Design Engineers to join a cutting-edge team developing analog and mixed-signal (AMS) circuits for next-generation optical and wireline communication systems.
In this role, you will design analog/mixed-signal circuits including data converters, amplifiers, drivers, comparators, and bandgap references used in control loops. You'll support micro-architecture development by conducting feasibility studies with chip architects, collaborate across design engineering teams (system, digital, analog, photonics/laser) to define electrical requirements, and document design simulations and verifications for formal design reviews.
Key responsibilities include driving block-level floorplan and mask design views with their reviews, running post-layout and mixed-signal top-level simulations to validate integration, defining production and bench-level test plans, and validating circuit performance in the lab.
You'll need an MS with 8+ years of relevant analog/mixed-signal circuit design experience, or a Ph.D. with 5+ years of industry experience. Required skills include solid understanding of CMOS device characteristics, noise, mismatch, linearity, and design trade-offs; proficiency with Cadence Design Environment; and hands-on experience testing analog circuits in a lab environment. Preferred qualifications include experience with silicon photonics (MZM, Ring modulators) or laser ICs, and chip top-level design experience.
