The Exploration Company is building innovative aerospace technologies for space transportation, specifically developing electronic systems for the Nyx capsule. As an Analog Electronic Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and qualifying electronic systems for space flight environments.
Key responsibilities include simulating electronic circuits with considerations for fault tolerance and radiation effects, creating schematics and PCB layouts using tools like Altium Designer, developing comprehensive test strategies from prototype validation through flight hardware acceptance testing, and automating test procedures using Python. You will create detailed PCB documentation including Bills of Materials and work cross-functionally with mechanical and systems engineers to define circuit board capabilities and requirements.
The role demands hands-on laboratory work including soldering, prototype debugging, and full test cycle execution. You will apply knowledge of radiation effects, environmental qualification standards (ECSS, NASA-HBK, MIL-STD), and parts derating in a space-qualified design context.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or equivalent work experience, demonstrated expertise in electronics design and testing, and proficiency with circuit design and layout tools (KiCAD, Altium Designer). Strong hands-on laboratory skills are essential.
Bonus qualifications include knowledge of radiation effects and failure mechanisms in electronic circuits, familiarity with environmental qualification standards and aerospace design practices, and experience with space-grade component selection and derating methodologies.
