The Exploration Company is building innovative aerospace technologies for space transportation, including a lunar lander capable of precision landing and reusable operations. The company is establishing a dedicated remote test site in the United Arab Emirates for hot-fire propulsion testing and hopper flight demonstrations.
As an AIT MGSE Engineer, you will design and deliver Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) needed for the preparation and testing of the lunar lander. Your responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with Engineering and AIT colleagues to understand and refine requirements and timelines for various MGSEs used in assembly and testing activities
- Conceptualize, design (CAD including manufacturing drawings), procure, and commission MGSEs
- Confirm design compatibility with external loads through mechanical analysis, hand calculations, and proof tests
- Engage with suppliers on MGSE designs to optimize manufacturability and processes
- Follow up on manufacturing and procurement with suppliers, coordinate with the supply chain team, and address technical questions to ensure timely delivery
- Provide instructions and support for assembly, commissioning, and implementation of MGSEs
The role is ideal for someone with a passion for space technology and hands-on engineering problem-solving. You will work on critical ground support systems that enable testing of advanced propulsion and landing systems for lunar missions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Mechanical or Aerospace engineering degree (or equivalent) with focus on machine/structural design
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD design and drafting (Siemens NX or similar) and FE analysis (Hypermesh or similar)
- Strong understanding of machine design and manufacturing processes (machining, welding, etc.), design for manufacturing, and GD&T
- Familiarity with standard margin calculation methodologies for beam design, bolted joints, welds, and similar applications
- Experience with planning and execution of mechanical tests (preferred)
- Strong documentation skills including design descriptions, assembly instructions, and test reports
- Creative problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities
- Basic hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and simple machining tools (drilling machines, etc.)
- Previous experience in space AIT and MGSE design (highly appreciated)
- Good English communication skills; French is a plus
