The Exploration Company is building innovative aerospace technologies for space transportation. We are seeking an AIT MGSE Engineer to design and deliver Ground Support Equipment (MGSEs) for the preparation of our next capsule.
In this role, you will work closely with Engineering and AIT colleagues to understand and refine requirements and timelines for various MGSEs needed for assembly and testing activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Conceptualizing, designing (CAD including manufacturing drawings), procuring, and commissioning MGSEs
- Confirming design compatibility with external loads through mechanical analysis, hand calculations, and proof tests
- Collaborating with suppliers on MGSE designs for manufacturability and optimal processes
- Following up on manufacturing and procurement with suppliers, answering technical questions, and ensuring timely delivery
- Providing instructions and supporting assembly, commissioning, and implementation of MGSEs

REQUIREMENTS:
- Mechanical or Aerospace engineering degree (or similar) with focus on machine/structural design
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD design and drafting (Siemens NX or similar) and FE analysis (Hypermesh or similar)
- Good understanding of machine design and manufacturing processes (machining, welding, etc.), design for manufacturing, and GD&T
- Familiarity with standard margin calculation methodologies for beams, bolted joints, welds, and similar applications
- Good documentation skills including design descriptions, assembly instructions, and test reports
- Creative problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities
- Basic hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and simple machining tools (drilling machine, etc.)
- Fluent English communication skills (German is a plus)
PLUS (highly valued):
- Experience designing test setups, jigs, fixtures, and planning/executing mechanical tests in-house
- Previous experience in space AIT and MGSE design
