ICEYE is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to join the Global Manufacturing Organisation's AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test) team in Espoo, Finland. You will own mechanical and environmental test readiness for ICEYE's satellite platform, including vibration testing (random vibration, sine burst/sweep, sine-on-random, resonance search and dwell), shock testing, mass properties verification, and fastener integrity validation. In this role, you will personally set up, operate, and troubleshoot the vibration test system (electrodynamic shaker, slip table, head expander) and its control software, including electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic subsystems. You will design or evaluate test fixtures using structural dynamics principles and force/overturning moment budgets, then coordinate fixture fabrication. You will author technically correct, version-controlled test procedures and reports that are executable on the floor without interpretation. You will serve as the mechanical test point of contact for engineering and production when structural behaviour during test is unclear or unexpected. Working in a "2-in-a-box" partnership with structures and mechanical designers, you will derive and verify test levels and assess testability of design changes. You will own Tier-2 technical support for mechanical test non-conformances, including triage, root cause analysis, corrective action, and closure. You will analyse test data, communicate results and recommendations to engineering teams, and mentor AIT technicians on mechanical test execution. Required qualifications: degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related discipline; 3–5 years of hands-on experience in vibration, shock, or environmental test engineering in hardware-intensive environments (aerospace, defence, automotive, or similar); direct hands-on experience operating electrodynamic shaker systems and vibration test control software; solid understanding of structural dynamics and environmental test methods with working knowledge of relevant standards (RPUG, MIL-STD-1540/810, NASA GEVS, ECSS); experience designing or evaluating test fixtures and deriving test levels; ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, ICDs, and test specifications; excellent English communication skills. Nice-to-have qualifications include hands-on experience with Vibration Research software (VibrationVIEW/ObserVIEW), experience in spacecraft/aerospace/defence/high-reliability mechanical test environments, familiarity with satellite structural qualification or acceptance test campaigns, exposure to HALT/HASS or accelerated environmental test methods, experience supporting new test equipment acquisition and commissioning, and proficiency with Jira or equivalent engineering tracking systems.
