ICEYE is seeking an AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing) Engineering Team Lead to lead the AIT Engineering function responsible for spacecraft systems and optical payload integration. This is a technical leadership and people management role in an early-stage production environment where you will lead and develop the AIT Engineering team while serving as the technical focal point for AIT activities during spacecraft builds and integration campaigns. You will sit at the interface between Engineering and Production, working closely with optical, mechanical, electrical, systems, quality, and production teams to translate design intent into robust, manufacturable, integrable, and testable processes. You will ensure that feedback and issues identified during production are effectively driven back into Engineering. Additionally, you will support the integration and validation of externally supplied optical payloads, working with internal engineering teams and external suppliers. Key responsibilities include: leading and developing the AIT Engineering team with technical direction and mentoring; leading assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft systems; supporting optical payload integration and validation; combining technical leadership with hands-on involvement in spacecraft integration and troubleshooting; ensuring AIT readiness before builds (tools, GSE, procedures, documentation); driving structured problem-solving and root cause analysis; acting as a bridge between Production and Engineering; working across multiple engineering disciplines to resolve integration challenges; defining and continuously improving AIT processes, procedures, and technical documentation; supporting production ramp-up; and mentoring engineers to build strong technical capabilities. Required qualifications: 5+ years of hands-on experience in spacecraft AIT, system integration, testing, or production of complex hardware systems; strong experience with spacecraft integration and system-level testing across multiple engineering disciplines; experience with optical systems, optomechanics, optical payloads, or Earth Observation systems; experience with complex precision hardware in cleanroom or controlled environments; strong system-level understanding across mechanical, electrical, optical, and systems engineering; experience with DFM/DFT principles; experience with AIT processes, test procedures, verification, and technical documentation; experience with GSE, tooling, fixtures, or test setups; strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills; experience with MES, ERP, or test data management systems; knowledge of Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies; understanding of configuration-controlled production and engineering environments; strong communication and stakeholder management skills; and fluent English (written and spoken). Nice-to-have skills include experience with optical alignment and metrology (focus, tilt, centering, boresight, interferometry, collimators, MTF) and experience supporting environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMC). This is a permanent, on-site role reporting to the Head of MAITE, Optics within the Global Manufacturing Organization. The role is part of building ICEYE's Lisbon manufacturing organization ahead of site ramp-up, with formal opening expected in Q4 2026. Employment is subject to applicable security screening.
