BETA Technologies is revolutionizing electric aviation through innovative aircraft design and sustainable flight solutions. This Aircraft Loads Engineer role is central to developing the next generation of electric aircraft, both fixed-wing and vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) platforms. You will own the development of external aircraft loads analysis, including gust, maneuver, and ground loads using six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) models. Working closely with Flight Sciences, Structures, and system teams (Motors, Flight Controls, etc.), you'll define load cases that align with FAA certification requirements and support structural sizing across the aircraft. Key responsibilities include: - Leading external loads requirements and analyses for maneuver, gust, and ground cases - Defining load cases for fixed-wing and VTOL aircraft with certification alignment - Developing mass and stiffness representative structural finite element models (FEM) and generating external loads - Supporting loads test development and execution at component and flight test levels - Identifying design and analysis improvements using multidisciplinary aircraft knowledge You'll need 3–5 years of hands-on aircraft loads analysis and testing experience, including steady-state maneuvers, abrupt maneuvers, gust response, and landing loads. Proficiency with industry-standard tools (NASTRAN, FEMAP) and programming (MATLAB, Python) is essential. CAD experience (CATIA, SolidWorks) and aerodynamic analysis methods (panel methods, CFD) round out the technical foundation. Desirable experience includes vertical flight load case definition (RCAS), fly-by-wire systems impact on loads, loads mitigation strategies, and FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) credentials. BETA offers competitive total compensation including RSUs and PSUs for all full-time team members, comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, vision), disability coverage, parental leave, daily lunch, and flight lessons. The culture emphasizes intellectual curiosity, sustainability commitment, and inclusive collaboration.
