Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an Air-Vehicle Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) Engineer to join the Air Dominance & Strike (AD&S) Division in Costa Mesa, California. This role is central to developing next-generation affordable, collaborative combat aircraft, missiles, and autonomous software systems.
You will lead MDAO initiatives by collaborating with air-vehicle design and analysis disciplines across AD&S programs to define and execute critical trade studies using commercial MDAO frameworks. Working alongside the AD&S Engineering Tools Lead, you will shape the strategic roadmap for MDAO capabilities, deploy multi-fidelity workflows across programs, and document available resources.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing robust, parameterized, watertight CAD-based scripted geometry models (using tools like Engineering Sketch Pad) to enable multidisciplinary analysis. You will drive the earlier integration of disciplinary models—including controls, guidance, mission systems, 6DOF simulations, and subsystems—into the design process, providing rich data to inform critical tradespace decisions.
You will pioneer cutting-edge MDAO methodologies and models, including Uncertainty Quantification (UQ), Design of Experiments (DOE), sensitivity analyses, and advanced AI solutions to enhance workflow efficiency and discovery. Your expertise will bridge engineering analysis, hardware, and software development, ensuring modeling and tooling choices directly contribute to mission-critical system delivery.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in computational engineering analysis, adept at modeling both steady-state and transient phenomena. You will mentor discipline experts on efficient methods to create MDAO-hardened models and tools, identify workflow bottlenecks, and continuously improve multi-fidelity processes. Experience with operational analysis codes, CAD scripting, and deep understanding of error and uncertainty in complex systems modeling is highly desirable.
