Join Apple's Privacy Preserving Measurement & Machine Learning team to develop state-of-the-art privacy-enhancing technologies for on-device machine learning. This role focuses on building software that runs on billions of Apple devices, enabling training and evaluation of generative AI systems while maintaining industry-leading privacy standards.
You will collaborate with cross-functional engineers to design and develop end-to-end measurement systems that meet Apple's privacy requirements. Working at the intersection of privacy-preserving technology, applied cryptography, and machine learning, you'll operate independently to solve complex technical problems. Your work will directly impact how Apple protects user privacy while advancing AI capabilities across its product ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing on-device software for privacy-preserving ML systems, developing solutions for resource-constrained environments, and working across multiple technologies and teams. You'll need strong hands-on software development experience with proficiency in languages like Python, Swift, or C++, and proven expertise in iOS or embedded systems development.
The ideal candidate brings a track record of delivering large-scale software systems from design through production deployment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence and build consensus across teams. Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies such as differential privacy, multi-party computation, federated learning, or homomorphic encryption is highly valued. Familiarity with ML model inference, evaluation, and post-training optimization is preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience is expected.
