Sauce is a restaurant technology platform serving the $105B US local restaurant market with commission-free delivery and proprietary delivery optimization. Headquartered in NYC and Tel Aviv, the company enables restaurants to connect directly with customers and fulfill their potential. You'll lead AI-first transformation starting in the operations department. This is a builder-architect role for someone with technical founder mentality—not a developer who "uses AI," but someone who owns operational problems end-to-end: scoping, solution design, architecture, build, shipping, and iteration. You operate autonomously across teams and codebases, dragging legacy R&D practices into the AI-first era. Key responsibilities include: owning operations problems end-to-end (understanding pain, defining solutions, acting as PM, architecting, building, shipping, iterating); driving AI transformation by introducing AI-first practices and proving value with shipped results; designing and deploying agentic systems (AI agents, human-in-the-loop workflows, operational UIs, CRM integrations, n8n orchestration); working across team boundaries without silos; translating vague business feedback into precise, well-architected solutions. You report to VP of R&D and work directly with business and ops leadership, setting priorities collaboratively rather than receiving them. You bring almost-founder mentality with product-building or company-operating experience. You combine PM, architect, and engineer capabilities—writing requirements and executing them. You're a strong software architect building extensible systems, not duct-tape automations. You're AI-native with deep, current, hands-on LLM and agent experience. You're relentless, multi-domain comfortable, and a proven transformation driver who's changed how teams work. Technical experience required: AI agents in production (tool use, structured outputs, multi-step orchestration, evals, human-in-the-loop); ops automation (n8n or similar, operational UIs, CRM integrations); AI-first development (Cursor/Claude Code expertise); full-stack (Node.js + React or equivalent, PostgreSQL); architecture (API design, third-party integrations, cloud deployment); security awareness. Nice-to-haves: founder/founding-engineer experience, HubSpot API, MongoDB, Playwright/browser automation, Chrome extensions, restaurant/logistics domain knowledge.
