Neo4j is seeking an AI Tech Lead to architect and build the artificial intelligence capabilities of Hume, their connected data analytics platform. This is a hands-on role where you will design the technical foundations of the AI layer, specifically focusing on Hume Maestro, the core AI component, while actively contributing to development.
Key responsibilities include designing the AI layer's architecture and technical roadmap, actively contributing to the codebase to set standards for technical excellence and scalability, and working within a shared decision-making structure alongside Product Managers and the Chief Scientist. You will partner with the broader Hume team (front-end and platform engineers) to ensure seamless AI integration into the user experience, drive best practices in AI/ML engineering including model evaluation and deployment pipelines, and eventually transition into building and mentoring a dedicated AI engineering team as the function expands.
You should bring a proven track record as a Senior or Lead Engineer with deep expertise in AI and Machine Learning, strong experience designing and deploying AI architectures (particularly LLMs, graph-based AI, or complex data processing layers), and the ability to bridge high-level research and vision with production-ready engineering. A collaborative mindset, leadership potential, and experience in B2B SaaS or high-growth deep-tech environments are highly preferred.
