Relativity Space is building rockets and automated manufacturing systems to serve commercial launch needs and advance space exploration. The Terrestrial Software team is developing the digital backbone for an automated rocket factory and integrated launch platform, automating workflows from raw material intake through launch operations. The AI, Data and Platform Engineering team is integrating AI as a core capability across rocket design, hardware testing, and operations. This team builds applications, AI agents, data foundations, and platforms that empower engineers and operators company-wide. As an AI Software Engineer II, you will design and build AI-powered applications and agents on top of foundation models, ensuring reliability in production environments. You'll work across the full software development lifecycle—from concept and design through implementation and iterative improvement. You'll follow agile practices, ship continuously integrated and deployed quality software, and solve complex problems with elegant solutions. You'll collaborate directly with users and stakeholder teams across design, materials, manufacturing, and test/launch to define requirements, implement solutions, and refine based on feedback. The tech stack includes Python, React, TypeScript, and Go for application development; Claude and other foundation models; agent and orchestration frameworks; retrieval and vector search; LLM evaluation tooling; Spark, Iceberg, DuckDB, Redshift, DBT, Postgres, and Mongo for data; and AWS, Kubernetes (cloud and on-prem), Terraform, and Helm for infrastructure. This is a high-ownership role in a small, fast-moving team that ships quickly and treats reliability and evaluation as first-class concerns. You'll have autonomy to shape decisions and see your work directly impact the company's mission.
