Mistral is seeking an AI Scientist to join its Robotics team and develop next-generation AI systems for general-purpose mobile manipulation robots. The role bridges frontier AI research with production-grade robotics engineering, focusing on embodied intelligence that can perceive, reason, and interact with the physical world in real-world environments. Key responsibilities include developing novel AI methods for mobile manipulation and embodied intelligence, building scalable infrastructure for training and evaluating AI models, and deploying AI systems on physical robotic platforms. You will advance vision-language and robot learning capabilities while optimizing models for reliable real-world performance. Close collaboration with researchers, software engineers, and product teams is essential to deliver impactful solutions that translate cutting-edge research into practical applications. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building AI systems for robotics or developing large vision-language models, with strong software engineering skills in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch. Experience designing scalable, production-ready AI software and infrastructure is required. Robotics domain expertise in areas such as manipulation, navigation, simulation, 3D perception, embodied reasoning, or vision-language-action models is highly valued. Familiarity with the end-to-end MLOps lifecycle—including training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment—is essential. A track record of AI research, technical innovation, or scientific publications demonstrates the level of expertise sought. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, proactive self-direction, and a collaborative approach to working across teams.
