Baseten powers mission-critical inference for leading AI companies including Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. The company recently raised $1.5B in Series F funding and is building the platform engineers use to ship AI products at scale.
The Compute organization is in hyper-growth, and this role sits at the center of how Baseten allocates, forecasts, and manages GPU fleet capacity. The C3 team currently operates on a mix of internal tooling, manual processes, and systems that haven't kept pace with scale. You'll design, build, and ship AI-powered workflows that automate the manual, repetitive, and error-prone parts of the capacity lifecycle, freeing the team to focus on high-judgment decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building AI-powered agents and automations that give capacity analysts, ops leads, and engineers real leverage—automating data pipeline cleanup, migration troubleshooting, capacity investigation, and similar repetitive work
- Turning fleet utilization, allocation, and demand-forecasting data into dashboards, alerts, and recommendations that leadership actually acts on
- Auditing the existing stack, identifying gaps and overlaps, and generating your own backlog without waiting for direction
- Shipping team-productivity workflows fast—triaging asks and delivering solutions within days, not weeks
- Making judgment calls about when to use point-and-click tools versus custom AI-powered solutions in Claude Code
- Thinking in systems: anticipating upstream and downstream implications across Supply, Demand, and Engineering teams
- Integrating third-party APIs and internal systems to sync events and information across C3, the CRM, and Compute systems
- Documenting what you build so teams can find, understand, and trust it
You'll work in a high-stakes, operationally complex environment where mistakes have real business impact, and you'll have exposure to the operational core of a fast-scaling AI infrastructure company.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience in AI/automation engineering, workflow automation, or technical operations, ideally at a high-growth, AI-native infrastructure or B2B company
- Shipped production agents on Vercel; able to build custom internal apps and agents with durable workflows and sandboxed execution
- Genuine fluency with AI coding assistants and agent tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar)
- Direct experience with a CRM or system-of-record platform (Salesforce or similar)
- Track record of owning end-to-end AI and automation workflows
- Proficiency with integration and automation platforms (n8n, Zapier, Make, Workato, or similar) and fundamental understanding of APIs and webhooks
- Experience in high-growth technology companies, ideally in infrastructure, cloud, or operations-heavy environments
NICE TO HAVE:
- Familiarity with GPU infrastructure, capacity planning, or fleet management
- Comfort building reporting and alerting on data warehouses (BigQuery, Databricks) and BI layers (Sigma, Hex)
- Experience building with agent platforms (Gumloop, n8n, Notion Agents) and/or agent frameworks (Vercel AI SDK, Claude Agent SDK, Mastra)
- Experience in high-stakes, operationally complex environments
