Salary: CAD 130,000 - 180,000 / annual
7shifts is a scheduling and payroll platform serving over 55,000 restaurants and 1.5 million restaurant workers daily. As an AI Delivery Engineer on the Developer Experience squad, you'll work at the intersection of engineering judgment and AI-enabled execution, reporting to the Engineering Manager for Developer Experience.
You'll own work end-to-end: taking problems from definition through technical design, build, iteration, and long-term production support. Your core responsibilities include designing and shipping backend systems, data models, and agentic frameworks that scale; using AI as your primary delivery tool while applying engineering judgment to validate outputs and maintain quality bars; improving speed, cost efficiency, and MCP adoption across the organization; and setting engineering practices through code reviews, testing standards, and technical decisions that others learn from.
You'll translate developer and business intent into technical solutions, surfacing tradeoffs and risks early so teams make better decisions. Mentorship is central to the role—you'll develop squad members through feedback, technical guidance, and by modeling how to approach problems effectively.
You bring production ownership experience: you've shipped software customers depend on, made technical decisions under pressure, and learned from the consequences. You have demonstrated history with MCP server usage and creation, building orchestrated workflows beyond simple connectors. You use AI fluently in your delivery workflow, directing it deliberately and maintaining consistent quality bars. You can move from ambiguous input to clear, maintainable solutions in large codebases where the cost of getting it wrong is real. You communicate across the organization—articulating tradeoffs clearly to engineering managers, peers, and leadership without needing management. You're self-aware about gaps and growth edges, adjusting when things aren't working. You have a consistent track record of making people around you better through mentorship, code reviews, and helping less experienced developers think through problems.
Bonus: experience building agentic harnesses or agentic control planes.
