7shifts is a scheduling and payroll platform serving over 55,000 restaurants. As an AI Automation Engineer reporting to the CTO, you'll identify and build high-impact automation opportunities across the business using AI and modern tools.
You'll partner with cross-functional leaders to understand workflows, translate business needs into automation opportunities, and design AI-powered solutions that create meaningful capacity. Your work spans the full lifecycle: process redesign, building and shipping solutions using LLMs and automation platforms, integrating systems via APIs, and enabling teams to adopt and maintain what you build.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with teams to understand processes and identify automation opportunities
- Redesigning workflows to eliminate unnecessary steps before automating
- Building and deploying AI-powered solutions using tools like Claude, OpenAI, n8n, Zapier, and Make
- Integrating systems and tools through APIs and automation platforms
- Documenting solutions and establishing guardrails for team adoption
- Measuring impact through metrics like time saved and efficiency gains
You bring a builder mentality with hands-on experience shipping and maintaining AI solutions. You're fluent with LLMs and modern AI tools, understand responsible AI practices including data privacy and security, and have technical foundation in Python or similar languages, SQL, databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). You think business-first, starting with problems rather than technology, and have strong ownership instincts to drive projects independently from opportunity identification through implementation and measurement.
