Simple AI is building state-of-the-art voice AI agents for enterprise customers. The company works with iconic businesses like DoorDash, xAI, and Omaha Steaks to handle phone operations including customer support, order intake, and lead qualification. Simple AI raised $14M from top-tier investors including Y Combinator, First Harmonic, and prominent operators.
As an AI Agent Engineer, you will work directly with customers to transform Simple's voice AI platform into production-ready agents tailored to each business's needs. This is a highly technical and customer-facing role spanning pre-sales and post-sales activities.
Key responsibilities include: building custom demos for prospective customers, understanding customer workflows and systems, deploying agents into production environments, debugging edge cases and performance issues, and translating customer feedback into product improvements.
Every customer presents unique call flows, systems, products, policies, and edge cases. You will own the responsibility of understanding these details deeply and ensuring agents operate reliably in real-world scenarios. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys coding, engaging with customers, moving quickly, and seeing direct business impact from their work.
You'll work from Simple AI's San Francisco office as part of a 20+ person team founded by Catheryn Li (former Instagram/Facebook engineer, MIT grad) and Zach Kamran (former PEAK6 software leader, University of Chicago grad). Both founders previously led software teams at Y Combinator.
