As an Agentic Software Engineer on the Platform Architecture squad, you will design and build multi-agent systems that autonomously refactor and modernize Sonar's own codebase. Your primary focus will be unifying SonarQube Cloud and SonarQube Server onto a single, portable architecture using a hexagonal "capability-core + adapters" design pattern.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build agentic refactoring pipelines that safely extract domain logic from existing codebases and re-platform it onto the Unified Core with minimal human oversight.
- Define guardrails for autonomous refactoring at scale, including verification gates, automated test generation, static analysis, and rollback strategies that enable agents to move fast without breaking production code used by 7M+ developers.
- Prove the approach on real migrations such as Micronaut-to-Spring conversions, Lambda-to-container consolidations, API convergence, and strangler-fig domain extractions.
- Scale the approach into a repeatable, multi-agent "coding squad" capable of tackling many domains in parallel.
- Remain hands-on in the Java/Spring codebase, critically reviewing agent-produced code, identifying architectural issues, and correcting the agentic loop that generated them.
The role requires deep expertise in building autonomous systems, software architecture, and Java/Spring development. You will work at the intersection of AI agents and enterprise software modernization, solving one of Sonar's biggest technical challenges.
