Prodigal is building AI agents for loan servicing and collections, founded in 2018 by IIT Bombay alumni. The company has grown to serve 100+ enterprise customers across North America and is backed by Y Combinator, Accel, and Menlo Ventures. As an Agent Engineer, you will be at the core of building next-generation agentic AI applications powered by Prodigal's Intelligence Engine (PIE).
In this role, you will build and deploy LLM-powered AI agents, including voice agents, in production for real-world use cases. You'll own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI systems—from problem scoping and design through deployment, monitoring, and continuous iteration. You will design and optimize prompts, RAG pipelines, and evaluation frameworks to improve accuracy, latency, and reliability. Working directly with customers and Implementation Managers, you'll understand workflows, solve real-world problems, and drive successful go-lives and product iterations.
You should have 1–3 years of experience in backend, data, or AI engineering with strong proficiency in Python and SQL. Experience or exposure to LLMs, RAG, or prompt engineering is required. You demonstrate high ownership, comfort working in ambiguity, and ability to ship fast. You're comfortable collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams.
Preferred qualifications include a B.Tech, BE, or M.Tech in Computer Science or related discipline. Bonus experience includes production LLM systems and AI agents, evaluation and agent tooling, voice AI, Databricks, MongoDB, distributed systems, or startup background.
