Watershed is an enterprise sustainability platform helping companies like Airbnb, FedEx, and Visa manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics for regulatory reporting (CSRD), and drive decarbonization. The company operates offices across San Francisco, New York, Denver, London, Paris, Berlin, Sydney, and Mexico City. You will own day-to-day execution across three core accounting pillars: Revenue Accounting (ASC 606), Internally Developed Software (ASC 350-40), and Capitalized Commissions (ASC 340-40). You serve as the operational engine connecting technical accounting policies to GL execution, working closely with the Technical Accounting Team, AR, Deal Desk, and Engineering. Key responsibilities include: (1) Process Standardization & Audit Readiness—building standardized workflows for contracts, revenue schedules, IDS logs, and commission tracking; evaluating and deploying modern contract ingestion software and AI workflows; and owning external audit deliverables with reviewer-ready documentation. (2) Revenue Operations & Lifecycle Management—ingesting customer contracts, running monthly revenue recognition subledgers, managing contract amendments and renewals, handling non-standard deals with material rights and variable consideration, reconciling revenue and AR accounts, and partnering with FP&A on GAAP revenue trends. (3) IDS & Capitalized Commissions Operations—collaborating with Product and Engineering on development milestone tracking and capitalization criteria, maintaining commission amortization schedules, and streamlining capitalized cost tracking. You will work in a mission-oriented, product-focused startup culture, modernizing and automating routine accounting workflows to focus on key accounting judgments and complex deal structures. Requirements: 5+ years progressive accounting experience spanning Big 4/public accounting and high-growth SaaS/tech; strong working knowledge of US GAAP (ASC 606, ASC 350-40, ASC 340-40); direct experience with contract modifications and month-end close revenue schedules; comfort operating in ambiguity and standardizing data; cross-functional collaboration skills; proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERPs, Excel, and modern finance tools; CPA or CPC candidate preferred.
