Alvys is a fast-growing logistics technology startup building a modern cloud-based Transportation Management System (TMS) for carriers and brokers. We're seeking an Accounting Manager to establish scalable financial processes and ensure accuracy and integrity of our financial data as we scale.
In this hands-on role, you'll own the full accounting cycle and serve as the senior accounting lead reporting to the Head of Finance. You'll be responsible for month-end close, general ledger management, revenue recognition, accounts payable, payroll, tax compliance, and audit readiness. Your work will produce clean, accurate, and defensible financial statements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the close calendar end-to-end: task assignment, deadline management, review of journal entries, and delivery of close results to leadership
- Performing detailed balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, deferred revenue, prepaids, accruals) and variance analysis with written commentary
- Managing revenue reporting and billing oversight, including ASC 606 revenue recognition policy, ARR/CARR reporting, and reconciliation across Stripe, Salesforce, and QuickBooks Online
- Overseeing accounts payable, expense management, and payroll operations in partnership with People Operations
- Updating monthly expense forecasts, maintaining amortization schedules, and explaining spend variance to leadership
- Coordinating tax compliance (federal, state, franchise, sales tax, 1099s) and audit readiness with external advisors
- Managing and developing a small analyst team covering AP/expenses and billing/AR
- Identifying manual processes for automation as part of building an "autonomous close"
You'll work in a modern cloud-native finance stack (QuickBooks Online, Stripe, Salesforce) with a custom AI tooling layer. This role offers direct partnership with the Head of Finance, proximity to leadership decisions, and a clear path toward Controller as the company scales.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full close cycle ownership and hands-on balance sheet reconciliation
- Solid general ledger background with ability to prepare and review entries across payroll, accruals, and revenue; understand accounting flows through income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
- Revenue recognition experience under ASC 606 in a subscription business
- Experience managing, reviewing, and developing other accountants
- Daily hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (chart of accounts, journal entries, bank reconciliation, reporting) — required
- Hands-on experience with Stripe (subscriptions, invoices, credit memos, disputes, payouts, reconciliation) — required
- Advanced Google Sheets skills (pivots, lookups, nested logic, data validation)
- Demonstrated, current use of AI in accounting work; ability to write prompts, iterate on output, and know when not to trust it — required
- Comfort with custom AI workflows and ability to build on them
Preferred:
- CPA or active CPA candidate
- SaaS or technology industry experience
- Prior exposure to modern expense, HRIS, or close-management platforms
- Salesforce experience
Personal attributes: hands-on by instinct, comfortable on small teams, growth mindset, clear written communication.
