As Accounting Lead, you will own the accounting function for a portfolio of group entities across Europe and the UK. This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role with broad ownership and influence—not a people-management position, but one where you act as a key resource and mentor to the wider accounting team. In your first 6–12 months, you will: • Own day-to-day and month-end accounting for group entities across Europe and the UK, coordinating the close calendar and ensuring timely, accurate completion. • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, documentation, and timeliness. • Perform intercompany reconciliations across the group, resolving mismatches and ensuring balances agree. • Contribute to group consolidation accounting, ensuring entity-level results roll up correctly into group numbers. • Handle VAT and tax compliance matters for your entities, including VAT reconciliations across jurisdictions. • Support statutory reporting and annual accounts in collaboration with auditors. • Act as a key point of contact for external and internal audit, preparing documentation and resolving queries. • Contribute to system ownership of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for your entities, including chart-of-accounts setup and liaison with external BC consultants. • Identify and drive process improvements across accounting and financial control routines. • Serve as a go-to resource for the accounting team, answering questions, supporting onboarding, and helping shape more efficient ways of working. • Participate in and lead cross-functional finance projects. REQUIREMENTS: • Background in audit (from an accounting or audit firm) is a strong plus. • Solid experience with financial accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close in a multi-entity or international group. • Experience with intercompany reconciliations and group consolidation accounting. • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. • Structured, detail-oriented approach, comfortable working across multiple entities and jurisdictions. • Fluent in English, written and spoken. NICE TO HAVE: • Experience using AI tools such as Claude or similar modern finance/tech stacks to support accounting and reporting work.
