Harper is an AI-native commercial insurance company rebuilding the entire business as software. The company has grown ~100x in the last year and operates at high speed with on-site, in-person work and very high standards. In this role, you own the commercial renewal conversation for Harper's growing policy book. You will manage a large book of expiring policies and drive renewal outcomes independently. Your responsibilities include: - Start early on renewals using an expiration-based clock rather than waiting for customer escalation or carrier reminders - Re-understand each customer's business by confirming material changes in operations, payroll, revenue, locations, vehicles, contracts, and coverage needs - Build renewal plans in collaboration with placement and insurance experts, deciding whether to renew in place, remarket, change structure, or add coverage - Lead direct customer conversations explaining options, changes, pricing, conditions, and deadlines in plain language - Close the next term by asking for the business, collecting required decisions and completion items, and maintaining ownership through bind - Protect accounts by catching service issues, poor prior experience, or unresolved obligations that could undermine renewal - Record outcomes and capture why customers renewed, changed, waited, or left - Identify genuine expansion opportunities without turning routine service changes into sales You will be measured on renewal conversion, retention, total booked revenue, and time to decision. The role requires managing complexity across different renewal clocks and account types, building trust quickly, and delivering difficult price or coverage conversations directly. The company is based in San Francisco with an option for Atlanta. This is a 5-day-per-week in-office role with very early morning start times. You must be based in one of these cities or willing to relocate. REQUIREMENTS: - Closed renewals, account expansions, or recurring commercial relationships - Ability to manage a large book with different clocks and levels of complexity - Strong trust-building skills and ability to deliver difficult conversations directly - Understanding of when an account needs re-marketing versus follow-up - Ability to use account history and source documents rather than relying on status fields - Commercial insurance producer license required within ~30 days of start (Harper pays for training and licensing) - Must be based in Atlanta or San Francisco, or willing to relocate - Not suitable for candidates seeking remote or hybrid work
