Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company on a mission to power the world's transition to clean energy. The company engineers and manufactures breakthrough battery materials that significantly increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles. As Account Director for Japan, you will own the commercial success and market entry strategy for the automotive and consumer electronics sectors. You will cultivate deep, executive-level relationships with battery cell makers and OEMs, developing and executing comprehensive engagement plans for both existing and prospective customers. Key responsibilities include defining and executing account strategies for key accounts, synthesizing customer feedback and competitive intelligence to influence Sila's go-to-market strategy and product roadmap. You will lead complex commercial negotiations, manage entire sales cycles, and develop multi-year forecasts and demand projections to inform strategic planning. Acting as the primary commercial point of contact, you will ensure successful progression of opportunities and lead cross-functional internal teams through influence to align on customer deliverables and timelines. You will mentor junior commercial team members, modeling best practices in negotiation and complex account management. You will also stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies, sharing critical insights with internal teams. The role requires a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in strategic account management or technical business development, with a focus on automotive supply chains and/or battery cell makers. You must have proven experience selling novel products requiring physical integration and long qualification cycles, and expertise in leading complex C-level negotiations for multi-year agreements. Fluency in both English and Japanese is required, along with international experience and familiarity with Japanese business culture. Exceptional presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively are essential. At least 50% travel is required, both domestic and international.
