Etched is building custom silicon hardware optimized for AI inference, combining chip design, rack systems, software, and manufacturing. The company is Series A-backed and staffed by leading semiconductor and systems engineers. As Yield Manager in Silicon Operations, you will own manufacturing yield performance across Etched's entire silicon production lifecycle—from wafer fabrication through advanced packaging (CoWoS) and final test. You will be the operational focal point for yield, working directly with foundry and OSAT partners while coordinating across ASIC design, product, test, DFT, package, failure analysis, quality, reliability, program management, and manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include: - Daily monitoring of wafer, CoWoS assembly, and final test yield across NPI, production ramp, and high-volume manufacturing phases - Defining, tracking, and communicating silicon manufacturing KPIs (wafer yield, package yield, final test yield, yield ramp velocity, cycle-time impact, excursion response time, corrective-action closure) - Identifying yield excursions and emerging production risks; coordinating containment, material disposition, recovery, and executive escalation - Analyzing wafer maps, parametric data, sort results, assembly yield, and manufacturing data to isolate yield-loss mechanisms - Leading cross-functional yield reviews with foundry, OSAT, product engineering, test engineering, package engineering, failure analysis, and quality teams - Prioritizing yield issues based on output impact, supply commitments, schedule, cost, and business priorities; driving corrective actions to verified closure - Serving as primary operational interface with foundry, CoWoS, and test partners for yield performance, excursion response, and improvement planning - Monitoring wafer fabrication, advanced packaging, and test execution against production targets and partner commitments - Supporting manufacturing readiness for new ASIC products, process nodes, and packaging technologies - Identifying risks to production readiness, schedule, capacity, cost, and quality; coordinating mitigation plans - Developing and maintaining automated yield dashboards, production reports, and early-warning indicators - Standardizing yield review cadence, reporting methods, operating procedures, and manufacturing workflows - Measuring effectiveness of yield improvement initiatives and partner performance; driving continuous improvement Required qualifications: - 7+ years in semiconductor yield engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or silicon operations, with ownership of yield during production ramp or high-volume manufacturing - Deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing from wafer fabrication through wafer sort, advanced packaging, and final test - Hands-on experience managing yield with leading-edge foundry and OSAT partners; 2.5D/3D integration or CoWoS experience strongly preferred - Demonstrated success detecting, containing, and resolving complex yield excursions while protecting production output and customer commitments - Strong command of statistical yield analysis and manufacturing methods (SPC, Pareto analysis, hypothesis testing, DOE, process capability, root-cause analysis) - Experience analyzing wafer maps, parametric data, test data, bin distributions, assembly data, and equipment/process history - Ability to translate technical findings into clear priorities, risk assessments, recovery plans, and operating decisions for technical and executive audiences - Experience building automated manufacturing reports and dashboards; SQL and Python (or similar scripting/analytics language) proficiency strongly preferred - Track record of influencing cross-functional teams and external manufacturing partners in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments - Strong technical documentation and operational discipline (excursion reports, corrective-action tracking, operating procedures, KPI definitions) - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field; advanced degree a plus - Ability to travel to foundry, packaging, and test partner sites as needed Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage with generous premiums, $500/month credit for waiving medical, $2k/month housing subsidy for those near the office, relocation support, wellness benefits, daily lunch and dinner, and unlimited compute budget subject to ROI justification.
