This role manages a portfolio of vulnerable customers through the debt recovery and collections process, balancing commercial requirements with compassionate, personalized support. Key responsibilities include: managing diverse vulnerable customers through recovery processes with empathy and clarity; setting up affordable payment plans and explaining outstanding balances in accessible language; signposting customers to relevant charities, legal advice services, and external support organizations; engaging effectively via verbal and written correspondence; navigating difficult conversations involving personal circumstances, mental health challenges, and suicidal ideation with resilience and compassion; applying critical thinking to balance commercial and customer needs; and leveraging approved generative AI tools to streamline daily tasks and improve productivity. The ideal candidate brings proven experience handling vulnerable customers impacted by mental health, physical health, and life events; practical experience managing customers through debt recovery; strong understanding of financial products (term loans, credit cards, etc.); deep empathy balanced with attention to detail and professionalism; excellent written communication skills for tailored customer correspondence; ability to thrive in deadline-driven, compliance-focused environments; and comfort engaging with customers experiencing severe distress or depression. The role is based in London on a hybrid basis (3 days in office).
