As VP of Underwriting Automation, you will be a pivotal leader owning the accuracy and integrity of automated underwriting rules that govern decisioning across all products. You will oversee the comprehensive rules lifecycle, maintain rigorous governance frameworks, manage carrier partner relationships, and uphold stringent standards for automated decisioning integrity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directing deployment of automated underwriting solutions with clear strategic objectives and operational excellence standards
- Leveraging low/no-code platforms to deliver continuous improvements to underwriting rules, owning the full delivery cycle from definition through testing and deployment
- Engaging engineering teams to convert underwriting methodologies into scalable platform capabilities
- Ensuring integrity of automated outcomes by maintaining accountability for auto-decisioning rates and algorithmic performance quality
- Overseeing rule governance frameworks including design, documentation, testing protocols, and quality audit feedback loops
- Cultivating collaborative partnerships with carrier counterparts, serving as primary negotiator and trusted authority for automation integration
- Mentoring and developing second-line leadership to build organizational capability
You will need deep underwriting and risk selection expertise balanced with proven capacity for complex execution. You must understand and monitor changes across products, carriers, data sources, and platform capabilities, translating these dynamics into implications for automation and risk selection. You will serve as a strategic partner in carrier-facing initiatives and maintain high-trust collaboration with Engineering leadership.
