Form Energy is a manufacturing and energy technology company revolutionizing energy storage with cost-effective, multi-day iron-air battery systems. The company is scaling rapidly across research, engineering, and manufacturing, with production underway at a high-volume facility in West Virginia and contracts signed with leading US electric utilities.
As VP of Information Technology, you will be the company's senior-most IT leader, owning enterprise IT strategy and execution across infrastructure, enterprise platforms, cybersecurity, and IT governance, risk, and compliance. You will lead a distributed IT organization across four US sites through three directors (IT Engineering & Platforms, IT Operations, and Cybersecurity & GRC), building a lean, metrics-driven, audit-ready function that serves a demanding R&D, lab, and high-growth manufacturing user base.
Key responsibilities include: setting and executing enterprise IT strategy aligned to company growth; leading and developing the IT organization through three directors; building a lean, excellence-focused team; serving as executive owner of the IT controls environment to SOX standards and broader frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST 800-171/CMMC); sponsoring external auditor relationships and audit readiness; owning the enterprise cybersecurity program including detection, response, identity/access, vulnerability management, and incident response; scaling IT for high-growth manufacturing with infrastructure, networks, endpoints, and enterprise systems; directing the enterprise platform and integration portfolio; building infrastructure for AI adoption across the company; owning IT operating and capital budgets, vendor strategy, and licensing decisions; and providing executive-quality reporting on IT strategy, control coverage, cybersecurity posture, and operational health.
You will bring 15+ years in IT with progressive leadership including VP-level or equivalent experience leading multi-function IT organizations. You have demonstrated success scaling IT in high-growth manufacturing, hardware, or industrial companies, deep experience operating IT in compliance-intensive environments (SOX IT general controls, formal controls programs), and executive command of cybersecurity and IT risk strategy. This role reports to the Chief Digital Officer and requires onsite presence in Somerville 3+ days per week. Relocation assistance is available.
