As VP of Data, you will lead a 40+ person data organization spanning seven crafts (data science, analytics, engineering, and related disciplines) with a business remit covering Customer Care, Marketing, Finance, Revenue, and People. You report to the President of Builders and sit at the executive leadership table.
Your mandate is transformative: shift data from a reactive service function to core infrastructure engineered and scaled like any product-critical system. Today, data powers dashboards and answers questions. Tomorrow, data becomes the raw material Perk's products are built on—a strategic moat that differentiates the company in a competitive market.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning company-wide data strategy aligned with product expansion and business priorities
- Treating data infrastructure as a core product: governed, reliable, and designed for scale from inception
- Transitioning from reporting to insight and from siloed support to strategic partnership across the business
- Driving maturity in data tooling, documentation, governance, GDPR compliance, and ethical data use
- Leading through senior leaders: building culture, coaching, hiring, and maintaining high performance standards
- Championing AI adoption within the organization and in product offerings
- Serving as the data voice alongside Product, Engineering, Finance, Customer Care, Marketing, Revenue, and People leadership
Success means building a high-performing, trusted data organization that delivers measurable value; enabling Perk to use data for decisions, strategy, and operational improvement; establishing clear priorities and strong infrastructure with ownership; making core data infrastructure a foundation for products; and being seen as a strategic partner with a point of view.
Perk operates on an IRL-first model with 3 days per week in-person work. The role requires being based within commuting distance of the Barcelona hub. The company can assist with relocation from anywhere globally. English is the official office language.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience leading data organizations in high-growth tech or SaaS scale-ups
- Track record of leading and scaling 40+ person organizations through senior leaders, including coaching leaders of leaders and hiring high-performing talent
- Data science background combined with data analytics and data engineering expertise, with technical credibility to go deep in any direction
- Experience owning data strategy and budget at executive level and presenting to senior leadership
- Strong record of building trusted partnerships across Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations
- Technical fluency with modern data stacks: dbt, Snowflake, Airflow, Looker or Tableau
- Deep understanding of data privacy, governance, and compliance, including GDPR
- Excellent communication skills with ability to influence at senior levels and drive alignment
- Strategic mindset with ability to move between company-level thinking and hands-on detail
