Chainalysis is seeking a Senior Intelligence Analyst with deep Russia & Eurasia expertise to lead the company's attribution and threat-finance analysis on Russian and Eurasian crypto activity. This is a depth role focused on becoming the company's and industry's subject-matter expert on how Russian and Eurasian actors use cryptocurrency to evade sanctions, launder value, and fund illicit operations.
You will own Russia & Eurasia attribution end to end, including threat-actor entity mapping, sanctions-evasion infrastructure (no-KYC exchanges, OTC networks, stablecoin corridors, cross-border payment channels), Russian-linked ransomware and cybercrime financial flows, and procurement networks for restricted goods. You'll lead rapid attribution responses to OFAC and allied sanctions designations, trace on-chain networks as actors adapt to pressure, and produce finished intelligence (advisory notes, customer briefings, flagship publications) that makes Russian crypto threats actionable.
As the named external expert, you'll represent Chainalysis at conferences, panels, and in briefings to public- and private-sector partners. You'll help set the collection agenda for the domain, translate sanctions-evasion typologies into product detection guidance, and collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and engineers across a globally distributed team. The role emphasizes AI-forward instincts: designing and tuning automation to scale analysis, handling hard cases automation cannot solve, and building new capabilities alongside the team.
You'll join a fast-moving, high-bar team that moves across time zones and backs each other up. The Global Intelligence Team produces the attribution data moat beneath every Chainalysis product—the intelligence that investigators, sanctions authorities, and national-security agencies rely on to follow the money and disrupt threats.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep, demonstrable Russia & Eurasia expertise: command of the Russian sanctions landscape, Russian financial infrastructure adaptation to sanctions, CIS/former Soviet bloc crypto ecosystem, and/or Russian illicit-finance and procurement networks (core requirement)
- On-chain tracing ability against Russian targets: direct experience following Russian crypto activity on-chain (exchanges, sanctions evasion, ransomware flows) OR deep Russia threat-finance expertise paired with proven blockchain-tracing skill
- National-security or threat-finance background: intelligence, sanctions, counter-threat-finance, or investigations from IC, Treasury/OFAC, law enforcement, military, think tank, research institution, or private-sector CTF/sanctions work
- Regional fluency: strong grasp of Russian and Eurasian geopolitics, sanctions landscape, and regional financial flows; Russian language ability is a significant plus
- Elite potential and proven track record: exceptional aptitude, judgment, and work ethic; demonstrated leadership on hard problems end to end
- Excellent writing and communication: outward-facing expert role requiring intelligence that lands with analysts, customers, and senior audiences
- AI-forward instincts: build automation to scale your work and others', not just use it
- Comfort working with data; blockchain forensics experience strongly preferred
- 5+ years of relevant analytic, intelligence, or threat-finance experience for Senior hire; 8+ years and recognized domain authority for Staff hire
Desirable:
- Russian language ability
- Direct OFAC, EU, or OFSI sanctions experience; sanctions-evasion investigations; designation process familiarity
- Published research or public speaking record on Russia, sanctions evasion, or crypto threat finance
- Familiarity with Russian and CIS exchange infrastructure, stablecoin-based sanctions evasion, ransomware financial flows, or dual-use procurement networks
