Babylist is seeking a VP of Merchandise Planning, Allocation, and Inventory Management to lead a newly created function as the company scales beyond $1B in merchandise revenue. This is a net-new leadership role reporting to the CFO/COO, sitting as a peer to the VP of Merchandising, SVP of Supply Chain, and SVP of Data and Finance. You will own the strategic vision, operating standards, and systems roadmap for the Planning function. Key responsibilities include: defining and developing the team's north star with clear standards and operating cadence; transitioning the forecasting/allocation platform from migrated to trusted; finalizing and executing a scalable org design for Planning, Inventory Management, and Allocation; building the planning point of view behind warehouse network expansion and inventory deployment; owning end-to-end inventory strategy (drop-ship vs. own, investment decisions, SKU management); and maintaining inventory health across in-stock rate, weeks of supply, aged inventory, and working capital efficiency. You will lead leaders, developing the team into stronger autonomous operators, and establish Planning as an equal, vocal partner to Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Data & Finance in cross-functional forums like MBRs, S&OP, and OTB meetings. Ideal candidates bring proven executive leadership of merchandise planning and inventory management at wholesale retail businesses ($500M–$2B+) through double-digit growth. You should have a strong track record building high-performance teams, setting strategic vision and operating standards, and making high-stakes decisions with conviction. Direct experience implementing demand planning or allocation platforms (Intuendi, Blue Yonder, o9, ToolsGroup, Impact Analytics) and designing/scaling planning organizations is essential. Fluency in inventory KPIs and comfort as a strategic peer to other C-level functions is required. The role is remote, open anywhere in the US, with a preference for West Coast candidates.
