Salvo Health is seeking a VP Finance to lead financial operations and strategy as the company scales following its Series A raise. This is a fully remote role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
You will own end-to-end financial management including reporting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash-flow modeling. You'll manage and mentor the Finance & HR Manager, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations (bookkeeping, AP/AR, payroll, month-end close) while you focus on strategic initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
• Strategic Forecasting & Modeling: Develop and refine financial projection models (revenue, headcount, cash-flow) to drive the company toward cash-flow break-even post-Series A.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the Finance & HR Manager and Recruiter, delegating operational tasks to free your time for high-impact work.
• Fundraising & Board Strategy: Partner with the CEO and COO on venture fundraising, data room preparation, cap table scenario modeling, and board-level financial presentations.
• Healthcare Commercial Analysis: Build payer- and partner-facing financial models analyzing unit economics and contract structures for specialty virtual care services to support commercial and partnership discussions.
• Cash & Resource Strategy: Advise leadership on cash management, banking relationships, and budget allocation across clinical and operational departments.
• Financial Reporting & Controls: Oversee accurate monthly and quarterly financial reporting with appropriate internal controls, variance analyses, and scenario planning for a venture-backed organization.
• Compensation & Benefits Strategy: Oversee the financial architecture of HR operations, including compensation banding, benefits renewal negotiations, and payroll compliance.
• Headcount Planning & HR Budgeting: Model headcount costs, track employee acquisition spend, ensure HR technology stack alignment with operational budget, and coordinate staffing projections with the Recruiter.
• Payroll & Compliance Oversight: Serve as executive escalation point for payroll execution, state-level employment tax compliance, and benefit program funding for a remote workforce.
First 90-day priorities: assess current financial controls, refine the 18-month cash-flow forecast, and establish streamlined variance analysis reporting for the executive team.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 8+ years of progressive finance experience, including VP of Finance or similar senior finance leadership role, ideally at a venture-backed startup
• Experience with virtual healthcare delivery or tech-enabled services companies
• Proven track record building financial models, projections, and variance analyses in fast-growing environments
• Experience managing or mentoring finance staff (Controller, bookkeeper, etc.)

• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; QuickBooks or similar accounting system experience; enterprise ERP migration experience a plus
• Comfortable operating with high autonomy in full-time remote capacity
• Excellent communication skills translating financial detail into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
• Sound judgment and discretion handling sensitive financial and cap table information
• Personal passion for health and wellness topics preferred
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and based/working in the United States
