Salary: USD 206,400 - 258,050 / annual
Honest Health is seeking a VP of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) to set enterprise vision, strategy, and governance for the organization's CDI capabilities. This is a strategic leadership role accountable for ensuring CDI programs are scalable, clinically appropriate, operationally effective, and aligned with regulatory requirements and partner commitments.
Key responsibilities include:
**Enterprise Strategy & Governance**: Establish Honest Health's enterprise CDI vision, multi-year strategy, operating model, and capability roadmap. Define CDI's role across clinical operations, value-based care, partner performance, technology, compliance, and provider engagement. Establish enterprise governance, decision rights, policies, and performance standards for prospective, concurrent, and retrospective CDI programs. Translate organizational growth plans and partner needs into scalable CDI capabilities, staffing models, and technology requirements.
**Portfolio & Performance Leadership**: Maintain executive accountability for CDI portfolio performance, quality, scalability, and effectiveness. Establish enterprise objectives, KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting. Use clinical, coding, operational, and financial insights to identify opportunities and prioritize initiatives. Review portfolio performance with CDI leaders and cross-functional stakeholders. Sponsor evolution of pre-visit planning and documentation-support programs.
**Compliance, Quality & Risk**: Partner with Legal, Compliance, Clinical, and Coding leadership to ensure CDI policies align with organizational, federal, state, and third-party requirements. Ensure appropriate monitoring, auditing, escalation, and corrective-action processes. Promote a culture prioritizing clinical accuracy, ethical practices, and regulatory compliance.
**Provider & Partner Strategy**: Establish enterprise strategy for provider documentation education, engagement, adoption, and performance improvement. Serve as executive CDI representative in strategic partner discussions and complex issue resolution. Incorporate provider and partner feedback into CDI strategy and product development.
**Technology, Data & Innovation**: Define CDI technology and data strategy in partnership with Technology, Product, Analytics, and Clinical leadership. Establish business requirements and investment priorities for documentation platforms, analytics, workflow tools, and EHR integration. Evaluate opportunities to responsibly use automation and advanced analytics.
**Organizational Leadership**: Build and lead a high-performing CDI organization aligned with growth strategy. Lead, coach, and develop CDI leaders. Ensure workforce capabilities and credentialing keep pace with organizational and regulatory change.
**Executive Collaboration**: Serve as enterprise subject-matter leader for clinical documentation integrity. Advise executive leadership on CDI performance, strategic opportunities, and material risks. Partner with Clinical, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Product, Analytics, Operations, Finance, and Market leaders.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in health information management, healthcare administration, nursing, business, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Current CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or comparable nationally recognized coding or health information credential required
- Outpatient CDI, clinical documentation, auditing, or compliance credential preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in clinical documentation integrity, risk-adjustment coding, coding quality, or related healthcare operations
- 7+ years of people-leadership experience, including leading leaders and multi-layered teams
- Demonstrated experience establishing or significantly evolving enterprise CDI capabilities, governance, and performance-management practices
- Deep knowledge of CMS risk-adjustment coding, HCC documentation, ICD-10 coding, auditing, and applicable compliance standards
- Experience supporting value-based care organizations, provider organizations, health systems, health plans, or complex healthcare delivery environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale operational, technology, or workflow transformation
- Experience developing executive-level strategies, operating plans, budgets, business cases, and performance reporting
- Strong executive presence and ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders, clinicians, partners, and governing bodies
- Ability to operate effectively in high-growth environment with evolving priorities and organizational structures
- Willingness to travel based on business and partner needs
