Salary: USD 205,000 - 255,000 / annual
Arena Club is a digital marketplace for collectibles, founded by Derek Jeter and Brian Lee. The platform enables collectors to buy, sell, grade, authenticate, and showcase collectibles in one place, featuring digital card shows, grading services, vaulting, and digital pack openings.
You will serve as Vice President of Accounting & Tax, owning the financial close, financial statements, internal controls, and tax strategy for this fast-growing platform. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines operational involvement with strategic scaling.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage all accounting operations: general ledger, revenue recognition, AP/AR, payroll, consolidations, equity accounting, and monthly/quarterly/annual closes
- Own ASC 606 revenue framework across all revenue streams: marketplace transactions, grading/authentication, vaulting/storage fees, repacks, digital pack openings, and shipping—including principal vs. agent determinations and supporting documentation
- Oversee direct and indirect tax reporting, identify scaling opportunities, and develop long-term tax roadmap
- Design and operate the internal control environment to support growth without constraining operations
- Manage external audit end-to-end: auditor coordination, PBC discipline, and timely clean opinions
- Own the accounting technology stack: ERP configuration and roadmap, revenue and close automation, tax engine, and data pipeline from platform to ledger
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional finance teams to assess growth opportunities and their accounting/tax implications
- Build, mentor, and lead the accounting and tax team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; active CPA required
- 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years leading a team as Controller, VP of Accounting, or equivalent
- Familiarity with direct and indirect tax topics and ability to assess risk
- Hands-on ERP ownership (NetSuite or equivalent), including implementation or major re-implementation experience
- Experience in collectibles, resale, or another category involving custody or physical inventory
- Exposure to money movement and payment operations (processors, settlement timing, chargebacks, fraud loss accounting)
- Big 4 foundation with subsequent industry operating experience
- AI-forward working style, actively using AI tooling to accelerate reconciliation, documentation, and technical research
