Clear Street is a fintech company founded in 2018 that is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem by replacing legacy infrastructure in capital markets. The company has built a cloud-native clearing and custody system and operates a proprietary prime brokerage platform serving complex, global markets across multiple asset classes and currencies. You will lead tax matters across Clear Street's UK, EMEA, and APAC operations, based in the London office and reporting to the UK Finance Director. This is a high-impact individual contributor and strategic leadership role within a fast-growing organization. You will serve as the primary tax authority for a complex, multi-jurisdictional enterprise, advising senior business leaders, managing external advisors, and partnering with financial, legal, HR, and product teams to ensure tax efficiency, compliance, and strategic alignment. Key responsibilities include: **Tax Compliance and Reporting:** - Manage end-to-end tax compliance including preparation, review, and filing of corporate income tax returns, VAT/GST, and withholding taxes across jurisdictions using local external advisors as appropriate - Oversee calculation and review of current and deferred tax provisions under IFRS/US GAAP for regional entities - Ensure timely and accurate tax disclosures in statutory financial statements **Tax Planning and Advisory:** - Collaborate with Head of Tax on global tax strategy ensuring regional alignment with group-wide objectives - Develop and implement tax planning initiatives to optimize effective tax rate and maximize efficiency and tax savings - Assist with M&A tax due diligence, post-acquisition tax integration, and legal entity rationalization workstreams including holding structures and IP ownership - Act as internal tax advisor for finance, legal, operations, and HR business units - Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in UK, EMEA, and APAC jurisdictions (including Pillar Two/BEPS) and assess business impact **Tax Risk Management:** - Support global transfer pricing policies and documentation - Manage tax audits and disputes with tax authorities - Identify and mitigate tax risks and exposure The team is lean with broad scope, offering significant opportunities for leadership and growth. You will work in a fast-paced environment requiring strong project management, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives simultaneously. The role requires a collaborative working style with cross-functional teams across geographies. **Requirements:** - Qualified tax professional (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) - 10+ years of experience in corporate tax, with at least 5 years in a senior tax role - Expertise in international tax, transfer pricing, and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance - Strong knowledge of UK, EU, and APAC tax regimes - Experience managing tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions - Background in financial services and/or fintech with understanding of securities industry and broker-dealer businesses highly desired - Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills - Self-starter with ability to work independently and within team environments - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Collaborative working style with cross-functional teams
