Code Metal is the leader in automated software engineering, using AI and formal methods to produce provably correct code. The company serves defense and aerospace customers (U.S. Air Force, L3Harris, RTX, Toshiba) and was founded in 2023 with backing from Accel, Salesforce Ventures, B Capital, and others. You will architect and build Code Metal's finance function from the ground up, serving as the right hand to leadership as the company scales from $10M to $100M+. This is a hands-on role requiring both strategic vision and operational execution. Key responsibilities include: - Leading the financial transition from early-stage startup to scaled enterprise, managing bookings, backlog, revenue forecasting, and cap table management - Building and overseeing the entire accounting function (AP/AR, payroll, tax, audit) to Big Four standards while maintaining startup agility - Managing burn, optimizing runway, and partnering with the CEO on fundraising and investor relations - Implementing AI-driven tools to automate internal finance workflows - Cross-functional partnership with Engineering and Sales to align product milestones with financial targets and go-to-market strategies You are a startup veteran who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments. You combine big-picture strategic thinking with meticulous operational discipline. You have genuine interest in or experience with AI and deep tech, can speak the language of engineers, and understand unit economics of AI infrastructure. You are a low-ego, high-output collaborator deeply committed to the mission. QUALIFICATIONS: - 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3+ years in a high-growth startup leadership role - Deep expertise in core financial metrics & KPIs and hardware/edge-related business models - Strong proficiency in modern finance stacks (NetSuite, Rillet, Rippling, Ramp, Mosaic, etc.) - Excellent communication skills to distill complex financial data into actionable insights for Board and team - CPA or accounting background preferred; understanding of compliance and robust financial foundations required
