BRINC is a vertically integrated U.S. drone technology company building autonomous systems for emergency response. The company designs and manufactures unmanned aircraft systems, autonomous drone stations, command-and-control software, and advanced autonomy for public safety. BRINC operates Drone as First Responder (DFR) networks that dispatch drones directly to 911 calls, providing real-time aerial intelligence before ground units arrive. The company serves more than 1,000 public safety customers across all 50 states, is the sole drone supplier to Motorola Solutions, and has raised over $280 million from leading strategic and technology investors. As Senior Accounting Manager, you will report to the Head of Finance and own the day-to-day accounting function for this high-growth organization. You will manage financial operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and work closely with the finance & operations team and other departments to maintain accurate financial records, analyze and report data, and contribute to strategic decision-making. This is a unique opportunity to join a startup in scale-up mode and create accounting processes from the ground up, including preparing for the company's first financial statement audit. Key responsibilities include: overseeing day-to-day accounting operations (general ledger entries, payroll processing, revenue recognition per ASC 606 for subscription, hardware, and service arrangements); leading audit readiness and coordinating the company's first financial statement audit; preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP; managing month-end and year-end close processes; overseeing tax compliance (federal, state, local, sales, and payroll taxes); driving process improvements and efficiency initiatives; assisting in budgeting and forecasting; supporting cross-functional projects; overseeing inventory and cost accounting; developing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; and evaluating and implementing scalable accounting systems and automation tools, including the company's future ERP environment. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred - 7+ years of progressive accounting experience - Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment, combined with hands-on knowledge of manufacturing operations - Strong knowledge of US GAAP and proficiency in financial reporting - Demonstrated experience managing an audit process, including selection of and interaction with external auditors - Hands-on experience implementing financial systems (AR/AP tools or an ERP) to streamline finance & accounting operations - Ability to leverage AI tools and automated workflows to optimize accounting operations, enhance variance analysis, and drive close/reporting efficiencies - Expert in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite) and proficient with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets - Proficient in SaaS subscription management/AR software - Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate informed recommendations across multiple stakeholders - Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting PREFERRED: Experience in people management/team mentorship.
