The Underwriting Quality Auditor role is responsible for ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across the underwriting function. This is a quality assurance and continuous improvement position focused on auditing underwriting decisions and driving operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting structured audits of underwriting cases to evaluate risk decisions, evidence utilization, and documentation quality against carrier guidelines and standard operating procedures
- Tracking and reporting quality metrics including error rates, decision accuracy, and SLA compliance
- Providing structured feedback and supporting coaching interventions for underwriters to improve performance
- Identifying trends in errors and evidence quality, escalating systemic issues to leadership
- Collaborating with the training team to identify and address training needs
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives, SOP enhancements, and automation projects
This role requires deep expertise in life and health insurance underwriting, with a focus on quality management and audit functions. The position demands strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to both underwriting teams and leadership.
Requirements:
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Medicine or related field (M Pharma, Nursing, or MBBS preferred)
- More than 5 years of experience in Life or Health Insurance Underwriting with exposure to managing underwriting quality or audit functions
- Strong knowledge of APS (Attending Physician Statement), EHR (Electronic Health Records), and Lab Piq interpretation
- Solid understanding of US-based underwriting guidelines
- High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills for providing feedback and preparing reports
- Proficiency in MS Excel for trend analysis and scorecard development
