Quantum Space is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead spacecraft development programs from concept through launch and on-orbit operations. This role combines deep aerospace technical expertise with program execution leadership, ideal for a systems engineer or spacecraft integration lead who has grown into full technical, cost, and schedule ownership of complex programs.
You will own full accountability for spacecraft, payload, and subsystem development programs, defining and maturing mission concepts including payload integration studies, mission analysis, system architecture trades, and concept of operations development. You'll lead cross-functional execution across systems engineering, vehicle engineering, avionics, software, propulsion, thermal, AI&T, and manufacturing/supply chain teams.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining integrated master schedules, program plans, technical documentation, and spacecraft capability documentation. You'll serve as the primary customer-facing technical and programmatic lead during mission formulation, technical interchange meetings, formal reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), and proposal activities. You'll lead technical negotiations, identify program risks and dependencies, drive mitigation plans, and support mission-level engineering activities including requirements development, payload-to-bus compatibility analysis, architecture studies, and mission assurance planning.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline; 10+ years leading spacecraft, satellite, or aerospace development programs; direct experience designing, integrating, testing, or operating spacecraft/space systems; strong technical background in systems engineering, spacecraft I&T, mission architecture, and payload integration; experience leading hardware-intensive aerospace programs through formal milestone reviews; understanding of spacecraft subsystems, space system architectures, mission modeling/simulation, and program execution under constraints; excellent communication skills; ability to engage credibly with customers, executives, and engineering teams; willingness to travel up to 25%.
Nice-to-have: Master's degree in Engineering; 15+ years aerospace/space experience; National Security Space program support; experience with satellite constellation analysis, EO/RF/infrared/communications/PNT payloads, mission assurance, ITAR, rapid development environments, proposal development, government capture, national security ground systems; active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility.
