Baseten is hiring its first Technical Program Manager for the Model Performance organization. This is a zero-to-one role building the planning structures, execution processes, metrics, and cross-functional alignment needed to scale a fast-growing AI infrastructure team.
You will own execution across Model Performance's active project portfolio, freeing technical leads to focus on technical direction. You'll design and stand up planning structures and operating cadences tailored to the team's needs, coordinate model release and optimization programs end-to-end (including day-zero launches), and drive cross-team alignment as scope expands into Model APIs and the inference production stack.
Key responsibilities include surfacing risks and dependencies early, keeping leadership informed with clear status, and partnering with engineering leads to design team structures as the organization scales. You'll coordinate work across performance engineering, infrastructure, and release stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has deep technical program management experience running programs of similar scope and complexity. You should have hands-on experience program-managing model performance or inference optimization work, understanding how engines like vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, SGLang, and NVIDIA Dynamo fit into production serving stacks. You're comfortable with ambiguity and zero-to-one program building, can influence without direct authority, and communicate complex technical programs clearly to any audience.
Nice-to-haves include experience coordinating model release programs and day-zero launches for large-scale models, prior software engineering background, and deep learning performance optimization expertise (inference preferred).
Baseten powers mission-critical inference for leading AI companies including Cursor, Notion, Abridge, and Writer. The company recently raised $1.5B in Series F funding led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners, and Spark Capital.
