Chalk is hiring its first Technical Program Manager to drive execution across the company's most critical initiatives. The role reports directly to founders and VP of Product, owning end-to-end program management for major cross-functional launches spanning engineering, product, documentation, and go-to-market.
Key responsibilities include: driving Chalk's largest programs from concept to launch with complete independence; building program management systems, processes, and culture that improve how teams collaborate and deliver; owning timelines, dependencies, and risks for major platform initiatives; running launch readiness for new products and capabilities; providing founders and engineering leads with clear visibility into program health and blockers; influencing and pushing back on leadership to force sequencing tradeoffs and maintain focus; participating actively in product and engineering design to identify risks and opportunities; and unblocking teams by resolving conflicts and keeping decisions moving.
Chalk's platform combines Rust-speed performance with elegant developer tools, serving features to ML models and agents in single-digit milliseconds. The company recently raised a $50M Series A led by Felicis and serves leading companies in fraud prevention, identity verification, and clean energy optimization.
Required qualifications: 10+ years of experience with 6+ years in technical program management; proven track record shipping complex multi-team technical programs; strong technical depth in data infrastructure and ML systems; crisp written and verbal communication; comfort operating in ambiguity; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
Bonus experience includes prior software engineering roles, launching developer-facing platforms or ML/data infrastructure, being the first TPM hire at a startup, and familiarity with streaming/batch pipelines, online serving infrastructure, Kubernetes, model training/serving, and languages like Python, SQL, Rust, and Go.
The role is in-office 5 days per week in San Francisco with flexibility for unavoidable conflicts. Compensation is a generous salary plus equity package based on experience.
