VAST Data is seeking a Technical Escalation Engineer to join its growing operations team in a 24/7 network operations center environment. The role focuses on monitoring and maintaining the health and performance of VAST's installed cluster infrastructure, which powers enterprise AI and data management workloads.
Key responsibilities include:
- Real-time monitoring of clusters using internal monitoring tools to detect and troubleshoot issues promptly
- Responding to alerts and incidents in a timely manner, following standard operating procedures and escalation processes
- Performing initial investigation and diagnosis of problems, escalating complex issues to the support team
- Documenting incidents with full details, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the incident tracking system
- Collaborating with Support, R&D, Account teams, and customers to ensure effective incident resolution and communication
- Conducting routine checks and audits to identify potential problems or vulnerabilities
- Assisting with infrastructure changes and updates as directed by team leads
- Contributing to Root Cause Analysis documentation and customer delivery
- Participating in shift-based work schedules (nights, weekends, holidays) with flexible shift options
- Maintaining current knowledge of VAST Data Platform technologies through hands-on training
- Adhering to security protocols and ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data
Required qualifications:
- Proven experience as a NOC Operator or similar network monitoring role (preferred)
- Superior written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, DNS)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with multitasking ability
- Willingness to work 24/7 shift-based schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Detail-oriented with commitment to accurate documentation
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning
