Scopely is seeking a Technical Director, Live Operations to lead the configuration and operational systems for MONOPOLY GO!, one of the world's most successful mobile games. This is a hybrid role based in Barcelona, requiring three days per week in the office.
You will serve as a hands-on technical leader bridging engineering, product, and live operations teams. Your primary focus is improving how game configurations are created, validated, delivered, and operated at scale. You'll own the configuration pipeline end-to-end, from creation through player delivery, identifying bottlenecks and implementing lasting improvements that reduce manual effort and prevent errors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evolving the configuration pipeline to reduce manual work, prevent errors, and improve diagnostics
- Shaping the tooling roadmap in collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Live Operations teams
- Driving adoption of new tools through clear ownership, training, and feedback loops
- Staying hands-on: investigating technical problems, contributing to solution design, and testing improvements alongside teams
- Leading and developing technical and operational teams, clarifying responsibilities, and building cross-disciplinary understanding
- Fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and evidence-based decision-making
You will balance strategic roadmap decisions with tactical problem-solving, moving fluidly between high-level architecture and workflow-level details. Your leadership style emphasizes collaborative decision-making, constructive challenge, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements:
- Strong technical experience with configuration systems, tools, or delivery pipelines, with end-to-end understanding of how they work
- Proven experience leading technical teams and improving systems in live games or continuously operated software services
- Hands-on approach: comfortable moving between roadmap decisions, technical design, and operational workflow details
- Operational judgment: ability to balance immediate delivery needs with improvements that reduce future effort and risk
- Experience translating user needs into focused tooling roadmaps and supporting adoption through changes in working practices
- Clear communication and collaborative leadership; ability to explain tradeoffs, challenge constructively, and build agreement across teams
- Curiosity and commitment to developing people, sharing knowledge, and improving team processes
Bonus qualifications:
- Experience with mobile free-to-play games, Live Operations, or high-volume configuration and content delivery
- Familiarity with validation, automation, monitoring, and incident investigation
- Practical experience using AI to improve tooling or operational workflows
