Isar Aerospace, a fast-growing New Space company building sustainable launch solutions for small and medium-sized satellites, is seeking a Technical Buyer to join their operations team in Ottobrunn, Bavaria.
In this role, you will be responsible for procuring direct materials, components, and services based on production requirements and forecasts. You will collaborate closely with internal departments including Engineering, Production, Testing, and Quality to ensure clear understanding of technical specifications and company requirements. Key responsibilities include processing requests for quotes, requisitions, and purchase orders; developing sourcing strategies and managing supplier relationships; and negotiating with external suppliers to secure advantageous terms at both technical and commercial levels.
You will monitor delivery schedules and purchase order due dates to ensure timely receipt of materials, assess and manage supplier performance, and initiate continuous improvement programs to address delivery risks. Additionally, you will provide exceptional service and support to internal stakeholders across production, planning, and quality teams, and coordinate logistics arrangements with nominated carriers, brokers, and freight forwarders as required.
The ideal candidate brings extensive technical knowledge and at least 3 years of experience in purchasing machined components and mechanical assemblies in aerospace, automotive, or similar industries. You must be able to read and interpret complex technical drawings, have a comprehensive understanding of construction materials including composites and alloys, and demonstrate strong negotiation skills. Professional proficiency in both German and English is essential. You should be capable of planning and meeting project deadlines in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
