Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations to harness IoT data for actionable insights across physical operations including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing.
The Customer Education team is seeking a creative Senior Instructional Designer to develop learning strategies and innovative content that supports Samsara's customers and key personas. This role offers significant autonomy and ownership, with the opportunity to shape the future of the team's learning programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with stakeholders across Customer Success, Product, Sales, and Implementation to define training requirements, learning goals, and user needs for customers and partners
- Develop learning and credentialing experiences in multiple formats (online courses, video, audio, in-app learning, certifications) using various templates and business requirements
- Leverage AI-based content authoring tools and multimedia capabilities to develop content rapidly and iteratively
- Drive continuous improvement of instructional development processes and discover/test new models and tooling
- Solicit feedback from partners and subject matter experts; review others' content and assessments for effectiveness
- Own an assigned Samsara product area (starting with Safety), monitoring updates, maintaining curriculum, and partnering with leadership on requests
- Build product expertise through self-directed research, AI tools, and targeted SME collaboration
- Design and write engaging, effective assessments
- Champion Samsara's values and operating principles as the company scales globally
The role involves turning complex, fast-changing technical features into clear, engaging learning experiences for diverse audiences ranging from frontline drivers to executives. You'll work closely with a program manager who prioritizes the team's quarterly roadmap and will juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of learning design or instructional design experience in a software/SaaS setting
- Knowledge of instructional design standard methodologies and proven ability to craft effective, engaging learning content
- Ability to communicate abstract or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences (visually and in writing)
- Ability to identify the best learning delivery formats (online learning, assessments, audio-based lessons) for specific objectives
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Attention to design aesthetics and visual detail
- Knowledge of content development tools such as Parta.io, Articulate, Camtasia, Zoom, Clueso
Ideal Candidate Also Has:
- Comfort working within an AI-driven content development process, including AI-assisted authoring, review, and iteration
- Experience developing in-app training or contextual product education
