LAP Coffee is a specialty coffee startup on a mission to make high-quality coffee more affordable, digital, and convenient while bringing back the human touch. Operating stores across six German cities, the company is expanding rapidly and seeking a Team Lead for its Cologne location.
In this role, you will own the day-to-day operations of a LAP Coffee store, reporting directly to the leadership team. You will lead and develop a barista team, organize shifts, ensure exceptional customer service, and drive both operational excellence and business growth. Key responsibilities include:
• Team Leadership & Development: Guide baristas toward company goals while maintaining cultural standards. Support team growth and cultivate future General Managers.
• Operational Excellence: Maintain elite operating standards, monitor key store metrics, plan shifts effectively, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Health, Safety & Quality: Uphold strict health and safety protocols and ensure proper product handling to preserve quality.
• Performance Tracking: Track and report daily KPIs, inventory counts, and supply transfers accurately.
• Waste Reduction: Implement systems to minimize product waste through inventory monitoring and par-level adjustments.
• Customer Growth & Community Engagement: Collaborate with Brand and Marketing teams to execute customer acquisition strategies. Build relationships with local businesses and residents to foster brand loyalty.
• Training & Consistency: Master and apply product, service, and brand training playbooks to ensure consistency across operations.
You will also jump behind the counter during rushes to support the team and drive sales.
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in hospitality or retail food & beverage, with a strong track record in team scaling, inventory, and supply chain management (coffee industry experience is a significant plus)
• Entrepreneurial, solution-focused mindset with adaptability to fast-paced startup environments
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills under pressure
• Proven ability to identify growth opportunities, test ideas, and execute within tight budgets
• Fluent in English and German
• Willingness to travel occasionally for new opportunities
